Hi Guys, hope this post finds you all well…last night Pandabear and I went and watched Avengers 3D and it was pretty good. Movies are so expensive these days especially for 3D movies, we went for a 6.30pm session so it’ll finish around 9.30pm session in time to get home early and ready for work next day. When we arrived at the cinema there was already a small queue..it’s cheap tuesdays and I wanted to have a frozen fanta…on top of it the girl offered us to join Hoyts rewards card and we got sucked in and decided to join to receive a free movie ticket hehehehee and earn points. Anyways, the movie was pretty good full of action. I’m an action movie type of girl 🙂 Though I must admit I don’t really like wearing 3D glasses as they give me a headache but I managed to watch the movie without much of a hassle.
So, I’m in love with the tiramisu they have at Ciao Italia – it’s so smooth and creamy (very fattening too) so I decided for the family picnic I was going to make them. Tiramisu is one of the easiest dessert recipes because there’s no baking involved. I went online and chose a simple Tiramisu recipe – which consists of whipping cream, mascarpone cheese, eggs and sponge fingers. I’ve decided to dip the sponge fingers into strong instant coffee mixture and Tia maria – I have a bottle of Tia maria sitting at home…it was pretty simple, just whip the mascarpone cheese and whipped cream and add in whipped egg whites 🙂 and layer them..and dust them with lots of cocoa powder…
sorry for the bad photos, had to dig into them and cover them with plastic wrap before the seagulls attacked them. My family really enjoyed it and I gave everyone takeaways too 🙂
Hello Bloggy friends, hope this posts finds you all well. Lately, I’ve been feeling really unmotivated to update posts on my blog. I guess, I’ve come to a point that I’m getting a little bored and need some new inspirations 🙂 Not to worry, I’ll go for a little break and then come back all refreshed. Those that know me well, I get bored with things very quickly and it’s a miracle that I’ve managed to update these posts up till now!
So we were told by our mate that we must visit this Cafe place that sells awesome desserts and cakes. Now, I’m more of a savoury girl so not really into desserts but there are a small selection of desserts that I love. So we decided one night to check out this place.
Upon walking in you will be tempted by series of glass show case of desserts and cakes and man I have never seen so many desserts and cakes in a cafe restaurant before. So I started getting carried away with taking photos..here they are…
Okies, as I took a mini tour down the glass show cases – it was time to order some desserts. This place is quite a casual place you can order and pay at the counter. So it was our turn to order. I was still very indecisive as to which dessert I wanted to try as there were million of choices available it made the decision very hard indeed. The lady at the front counter got a little impatient as I strolled down the glass show case with umm…and ahs….so eventually we decided to share our desserts. Tiramisu in a cute rectangular case, nutella cheese cake and a fruit tart. As for drinks, hot chocolate, ice chocolate…
Nutella Cheese Cake
The cafe place was huge, there’s even a dining section for main course and a separate section for desserts. So we randomly chose our table and sat ourselves down. There’s even this cool coffee machine near by 🙂
Everything is pretty much self-served so you get issue a ticket and go and collect your desserts and drinks when it’s ready. Our desserts were divine. The tiramisu was nicely done, nutella cheese cake was not too sweet just right for my liking and fruit tart – well, it was the usual fruit tart with custard. Nothing special. Pandabear isn’t a fancy dessert type of guy, he decided he’ll play safe and go with the fruit tart – you won’t go wrong with that choice that’s for sure. Here’s my rating:
Dining experience: 3.5 star (not much service involved)
Food experience: 4 star (for the desserts)
Would I recommend? Absolutely…there’s so many varieties of desserts to try but I must admit it’s not very cheap…
Well, recently a friend of ours came back to Perth from Hong Kong for a friend’s wedding so we decided to take him out for a meal. It’s hard to find a nice and reasonable restaurant in Perth these days. However, I’ve heard some people raving about this little Italian place in South Perth. I’ve always wanted to go and try out at this place but the thought of queuing up for a restaurant doesn’t give much appeal to me. Anyways, we decided it’s time to utilize this opportunity to try Ciao Italia. In order to get our table of 4 we’ll rock up 15 minutes before it opens and we should be able to grab a table.
When we arrived at the place we see a lot of staff sitting outside smoking and it’s funny cos we’re one of the first to wait outside the restaurant it made us looked a little desperate but oh well, at least we know we’re first in the queue. We were greeted by this friendly Italian waiter who sat us down and straight away a little chef man statue caught my attention which had a sign that says ‘Rule no 1. The boss is always right and Rule no 2. If the boss is wrong see rule no 1. ‘ which made me cackle a little. Right next to our table you see this guy madly making some pizzas and heating them up in the oven.
The whole place was warm and tiny, but it’s cozy and seems welcoming. Most of the waiters and waitress are Italian and they were pretty friendly. We decided to have 1 x pizza, chilli Mussels, 2 x pasta dishes. We were told they serve large portions so that should be able to feed 4 hungry people. So here’s what we ordered:
Pepperoni & cheese woodfired pizza
Ciao Italia Fettucine
When the pizza arrived, it was huge it took up the centre of our table – then there were chilli mussels which were filled in a large deep bowl – I loved the pizza – it’s definitely an authentic Italian pizza simple flavours and very tasty. However, with the chilli mussels – I found that the sauce isn’t thick enough and it needs to be more tomatoey. There were so much chilli mussels we had to take away some. With the Penne Vodka – it was delicious, cooked in creamy tomato based sauce with spring onion, bacon and vodka. The Ciao Italia Fettucine was fantastic too. It is cooked with their own combination of marinated tender chicken strips sundried tomatoes and spring onions, fresh diced tomatoes in a creamy white sauce. All pastas are cooked to perfection ‘al dente’. Our table was really quite small so when the food came we were struggling to find spaces for them. We stared outside the window to take a little break from our food we could see queues and queues of people lining up.
After we have finished our delicious meal, I went and had a little squeeze at their cake window. At this point I was so full from my mains, but there’s always a little room for dessert. I was attracted to their tiramisu and strawberry tart. So we decided between the four of us we should be able to squeeze in the two desserts.
The tiramisu was gorgeous, the best one I’ve ever had in Perth. The presentation was fantastic and the serving size was huge 🙂 then came along strawberry tart…
the strawberry tart was just as tasty as the tiramisu – it is generously covered in loads of strawberry sauce and cream. The desserts were fantastic! I’m so glad we went ahead with dessert. By this time our tummy were exploding and we feel a little bad with people standing outside waiting for our table..so we left after dessert.
Here’s my rating:
Dining experience: 4.5 star
Food experience: 4.5 star
Would I recommend? Definitely YES!
